Knitting

(no subject)

I haven't journaled as often as I'd like due to a slew of projects that have due dates within the next two weeks. I've been swamped with so much and I feel that I will quite possible lose my mind within the coming week. Please bear with me.

I have been working to try and complete the Central Park Hoodie. Like I've said before, I'm the world's slowest knitter. But I have managed to complete the main body pieces and am working on a sleeve right now:

I'm hoping to get some time to work hard on it by the end of the week--quite possibly knitting during my Thursday shows.

I'm also looking forward to cracking down on some projects I need to complete. Here is a stash of Sugar 'N Cream just waiting to meet their destiny:

And I'm about to embark on my largest sewing project to date--two scrub tops for my brother for Christmas! He has a hard time finding scrub tops because of his size--they all end up too short! So, these special fabrics are going to end up as the scrub tops... hopefully:

My mom will probably be holding my hand through this project since she's the sewing wiz in the family. I'm pretty confident I can do this, though. And I know he'll love it!

And I have some special Scout's Swag yarn headed my way in the very near future. I had it specially dyed for my father for Christmas and can't wait to see it!! :D And some Sknitches yarn that was on sale, too!

I can't wait until classes are finished so that I can catch up on all the movies I've bought throughout the semester and to catch up on Christmas present projects--just need to make it through to the last week of Nov. Most of my classes will be finished by then--no finals! Exciting times. :) Also, I made it into Lambda Pi Eta at TAMUCC at the beginning of Nov. It's pretty cool since it's the Communication Honor Society at the university. TAMUK didn't have that at all.

Well, hopefully tons more knitting content in the near future!

Finished the Broadripple. Been addicted to Veronica Mars. Bought season 2 Thursday evening and finished it as I Kitchenered the toe of the second sock. Here's some photos of the pair:

With my slip-ons. :D

My yarn for the Central Park Hoodie came in finally, so I started this for a bit last night. It really is a quick knit! This is maybe two episodes of Veronica Mars. I started and then set it aside because I knew I had to work on the Broadripple sock. Now I can get rockin' on it whilst finishing Grey's Anatomy, season 1 and my shows from this past week:

For those interested Grey's fans, there is a fan KAL here.

And yes, I have been up all night watching TV on DVD and knitting. Don't you?

Haven't knitted at all this week. I'm a little sad about that. With the rush of classes (taking 18 hours!) and life I didn't even get a chance to order my yarn for the Central Park Hoodie KAL. :( I did just order it right now though, so hopefully I'll get it by next week. I ended up choosing Cascade 220 which seems to be a popular choice on the KAL. I chose this color:

Como Blue #9420

I bought it for $6/skein from HelloKnitty.com because it was a dollar less than the price at yarn.com. Good thing I kept looking! Everything for less than $45, including shipping! Not bad. This will be my first time knitting with Cascade 220 and I'm a little excited about this. I hear good things.

Still on my Jane Austen reading kick. Over the past two weeks, I finished The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler and The Man Who Loved Jane Austen by Sally Smith O'Rourke. Word to the wise, don't bother to check out The Man Who Loved Jane Austen. It was like reading really bad fan fiction. I'm now reading An Assembly Such as This: A Novel of Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman by Pamela Aidan. Too soon to tell how I feel about it. It's the first in the series of three novels looking at Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of Mr. Darcy. I have pts. 1 and 3 and I'm missing pt. 2 which won't be released until Oct. For those wondering, I picked up pt. 3 from the first print run of the novel and pt. 1 from the current print run. One thing I did notice that disjoints me from the story is that some of the names seem omitted from the book. For example:

"They have seen me do so regularly in Derbyshire and surely are aware that I have a pew in St. ------'s in London that Georgiana and I rarely fail to attend."

?!?!?!?! *So* frustrating. I've seen at least four of these and I'm only 50 pgs. into it. Am I missing something? Took advantage of the Half-Price Books 20% off everything sale going on this weekend and bought more books than I probably should have. No knitting ones because what was on the shelf was either straight out of the 80s and belonged on You Knit What?! or I already had.

Anyway, I'm planning some hardcore knitting time for the rest of today, tomorrow and Monday. I do have some things to complete for class, but other than that, it's me, knitting, the Poops, and DVDs of Threshold and the first season of Veronica Mars (which I've never seen, but heard good things about and grabbed at Target for $17.88!).

P.S. For giggles, my Bloglines is at 87 feeds. That's a lot of blog reading, yo. And yesterday on MySpace, I found the joys of tracking down Historical Character Profiles. Jane Austen and Anne Boleyn are my homegirls.
